Where We Started
National Occupational Health Services (NOHS) was founded in 1991 by Dr. John Sears. A successful, respected, and popular Tulsa physician, Dr. Sears had a concept to take the traditional occupational medical clinic and make it mobile.
By developing mobile occupational medical clinics, the opportunity to provide on-site services in an industrial setting was born. With the ability to travel across the United States, coupled with the needs and demands of heavy industry, Dr. Sears was able to service clients across the nation—hence the name, National Occupational Health Services.
The company grew into a fleet of rolling stock with 20 employees servicing national trades and industry, primarily refineries during turnarounds. In 2003, Dr. Sears unexpectedly passed away and the company continued for the next few years under the leadership of business partner, Tony Genoff.
In 2005, Brad Petty, along with Burt Holmes, purchased NOHS from Mr. Genoff and the Sears family. Both Mr. Petty and Mr. Holmes are local entrepreneurs, having owned and operated several employee-intensive businesses. The two were intrigued with the potential to create services and programs that would better serve employers, businesses, and industry.
As an experienced employer, Mr. Petty was acutely aware of the need for accurate, proactive, and efficient employee-screening services. He immediately saw the opportunity to grow NOHS into a more strategic and specific clinic—one that is tailored to meet the needs of the employer and their employees. The operation was quickly relocated to a larger and more central location so that services could be expanded to offer an occupational clinic to compliment the on-site services.
In 2017, Mr. Petty became the sole proprietor of the business and a new clinic was built to broaden operations. A spacious new clinic offering state of the art facilities has allowed NOHS the opportunity for growth in medical services, staff, and offerings, including our Third-Party Administration Programs.
Over the years, the business has continued to grow, expanding to become an integral provider of health services and programs for a long list of employers. And as of 2021, NOHS is a full-service occupational medical clinic and on-site service provider for employers, business, and industry. NOHS remains at the forefront of occupational health by offering a wide variety of the latest testing services that aim to promote safety in the workplace.
Services are turn-key from pre-employment to annual screenings, testing, examinations, vaccinations, lab work and immediate injury care. Our goal is to provide clients with an experience characterized by accuracy and efficiency. By working with our clients to address specific needs, we are able to build foundations for safe, healthy and productive places of employment.
We provide additional ease and assistance to our clients with our sister company, National Background Reporting, which operates in the same location as NOHS. The combined services of NOHS, NOHS Medical Clinic and NBR are the key components of a unique tri-pod approach. His focus is on providing businesses with varied legs of service within a centralized location. This combined convenience and quality of service is part of our commitment to administering an unparalleled level of occupational health services for clients today and in the future.
